Green Transformation of the Trailer Industry: New Energy Trailers Open New Paths for Low-Carbon Transportation
With the widespread adoption of low-carbon logistics concepts, the trailer industry is accelerating its transformation towards new energy sources.
With the widespread adoption of low-carbon logistics concepts, the trailer industry is accelerating its transformation towards new energy sources. New products such as electric trailers and hydrogen-powered trailers are emerging, providing low-carbon solutions for long-haul logistics. Electric trailers utilize large-capacity batteries and electric drive axle technology, providing auxiliary power during operation and reducing fuel consumption of the tractor unit, especially in heavy-duty transport scenarios where energy savings are significant. Some electric trailers are also equipped with regenerative braking systems, converting the kinetic energy generated during braking into electrical energy for storage, further improving energy efficiency.
Hydrogen-powered trailers employ fuel cell technology, generating electricity through the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen to power the vehicle. The only emission is water, achieving zero pollution. Hydrogen-powered trailers offer short refueling times and long driving ranges, meeting the transportation needs of long-haul logistics and solving the problem of insufficient range for pure electric trailers. Furthermore, the power system of hydrogen-powered trailers operates smoothly and with low noise, improving the driver's experience.
The promotion and application of new energy trailers has also driven the construction and improvement of supporting infrastructure. Some logistics parks and highway service areas have begun constructing charging stations and hydrogen refueling stations to provide energy replenishment services for new energy trailers. Simultaneously, companies have launched supporting operation and management solutions, including vehicle maintenance, energy replenishment, and route planning, to help logistics companies reduce the operating costs and lower the barriers to entry for new energy trailers. As the logistics industry's demand for low-carbon transportation continues to increase, new energy trailers are becoming an important direction for the industry's green transformation, driving trunk logistics towards a low-carbon and efficient direction.
